In the Middle

The updated version of my animatic (kind of)

Sooo I've reformatted my computer and am having a few issues so please bare with me as I get over this lump. For 2 days all I've had is Maya and paint.. so I haven't even been able to edit footage...
In that time I tried my hand at fur and hair! I got some funny results:

ex. a

On my character Kobak, a model I made for Lee Wolland's 3D character design class.
The reason I'm doing this is because I am honestly considering making my
project in 3D. However it also never hurts to learn new things!

I'm currently in Riverdale at the moment.
When I get back to Brooklyn much scanning will happen.

I have re-made Father Death's character design!

A needed update!

So I felt I was in desperate need to update this again.
Senior project time!!!!!

any way here's a older version of my trailer, for now:

The reason I'm uploading it, is so that I show some example of more or less how I'm going to go about animating some of it!
I think blogspot's video converter is epic fail.. so I'll have to upload it to photobucket.
Which will consist primarily of Photoshop and Aftereffects.

Expect more tonight! In either the form of a post edit or new post.

Other things I've done over the summer:

a close up of:

Drawn using a wacom intuos 3 tablet done in photoshop.
I wonder if anyone is interested in seeing the process... if so I'll put it up.
I'm really trying to go in a more realistic style for this.

I also whiped up this I think yesterday:
it's a super quick color sketch inspired by one of skullmaster's videos from mexico. He's also hosting a really spiffy collage project which you guys should check out and participate in here.
this portrait was me experimenting coloring backwards.. using a technique that I've artists like Jason Chan use... Which is make the picture in black and white with all the gray tones then add color!

right now

I obsessively felt the need to rework this background so that everything works well together.

I
'm still not done with it, the trees which further need to be redone but I can't focus on them yet.

I want to be in that forest! If only we could not only create these worlds but actually be able to go into them! :/ This project is like a child (my child) which I live vicariously through.

I want to make an online comic based on my college time/life in your(/my) 20s. This is a little sketch of the main character which I shamelessly based off of myself.

feed back as always, welcomed.

Sincerely,

- namnum

ephemeral

... like holding onto a very pretty fish...
I'm not really sure any more.

I want to be more well read and have more things to say. I was reading Paul Pope's blog and he is one of the few artists (that are relatively popular) that write about the workings of their mind and their findings and opinions. I wish that more artists would do this.

These are a few of my favorite things

And now for what I REALLY and truthfully with all of my heart actually LOVE to do... and that my kiddies, is draw ladies! wearing preferably nothing or close to nothing.

I'm feeling a little less animated(why? oh, why?!) today, which may be because I am constantly on the verge of getting sick. Thus far this semester has been a crazy roller coaster. I need more time, or everything to just slow down. You appreciate subtleties so much better. I miss that. spring break now. plx.

Another notch

"Being lazy is really about holding onto the past, you want to try to look for the future and there for the effort you put (into a pose or anything for that matter) is trying to reach to the future." -Danielle, my yoga instructor (who's sadly leaving).

blogger sucks bawls
and some backgrounds for it as well! I am excited.

Pre Production

I have been super busy! But I will try to get into the habit of updating this and not disappearing for ridiculous periods of time. I always find it hard to get into the groove of updating something like a blog regularly.

For some reason the colors are way off when I upload it. But this is a scene from my story for pre production!

And this is my shot at (a younger) Zeus in my really more cartoon based style.
I am super excited (despite the fact that there's a lot to do or maybe because there's a lot to do)! everything should pan out all right!
:)

I'm currentely listening to Brahms - Violinkonzert D-Dur op.77 - allegro giocoso, ma non troppo vivace by Hilary Hahn

Update? doodles.

I have been sketching a lot of very random things

other than those quickies, I've been getting my story board in line, and figuring out some stories and other random illustrating. ohhh and I also finally scanned my Mai fan art.

I made a Pat with very pink lighting. Can you tell my influences here?
So I'm in pre-production now which basically means I should very much so be freaking out right now but I'm oddly not. There's still time every Tuesday I'm sure :)
I seriously should lay off the facebook and actually make something or you know what? I can show you some progress of something I should have finished but kept getting pushed back because of other work.

and a sketch for shiggles.
